We are hiring a Senior Backend / Data Platform Engineer
// Hiring
Artificial intelligence is changing how people work, and what gets done inside companies. We are looking for someone who would rather build that change with us than watch it.
Aineo Agency builds AI agents and agentic applications for industrial, supply chain and project-based operations. We say what we think the problem is, including when that is not what was asked for. Then we build the answer — sometimes with no AI in it at all.
We are growing, and we are looking for a Senior Backend / Data Platform Engineer. The work is the services, databases, data models and integrations everything else stands on.
In operations, the hard part is not the model. It is the black box: an answer nobody can check is an answer nobody acts on — and there is no answer at all until the systems are connected and the data is defined. The doctoral research at Aalto University is on both ends of that: the architecture that makes AI reliable enough to act on, and what has to change inside a company before any of it pays. We know how it should be built, and that is how we build it.
What you would be doing
Although AI is at the core of what we build, the day-to-day work is concrete software engineering: backends, integrations, databases, data flows, interfaces, and getting solutions into a customer’s hands. Design, build, test, ship.
- Backend services and API endpoints
- Integrations into customer systems, databases and data sources
- Data flows, data models and data platforms
- The services that sit behind AI agents and AI-assisted applications
- Cloud environments, access control and logging
- The technical side of analytics, reporting and automation
- LLMs, agent frameworks and modern AI tooling, as part of real solutions
- Connecting ERP, CRM, MES, WMS and other systems, databases and APIs
- Data security and governance
- Maintainability, scalability and reliability
Who we are looking for
You can come from many backgrounds. What matters is that you are a strong technical builder, that you like making things work, and that you want to learn to apply AI to real business problems.
- An experienced backend developer who wants to learn the AI side properly, not from the outside
- A data engineer or data platform developer who understands flows, models and integrations
- Someone who knows the Microsoft and Azure ecosystem, or enterprise systems, well
- A technical consultant who likes being close to the customer’s business
You do not need to be an AI specialist. We would rather find someone who builds good technical solutions, understands the customer’s problem and learns quickly — the AI side we teach.
Microsoft and Azure experience is particularly useful, because that is where most of our customers already work — but the ability to learn and to build things that work matters more.
The role requires fluent Finnish, because we work closely with Finnish-speaking customers and their systems, and it is based in Finland.
What we offer
Everyone here has the opportunity to become a shareholder. Aineo Agency has no outside investors, which makes the timing interesting from an ownership point of view as well.
You would have a say in what gets built and how, rather than picking the next ticket off a queue. The technical decisions would be yours — and yours to live with.
- A flexible working model
- The AI side taught properly, not picked up around the edges
- Room to grow into broader technical responsibility
You would meet the people who use what you build and hear first-hand what they need. Then you would watch the work change — sometimes into something that was not possible before.
Interested?
Send a short application, or simply get in touch. Tell us:
- What backend, data, integration or cloud solutions you have built
- What kind of technical problems you enjoy
- What experience you have with interfaces, databases, cloud services or enterprise systems
- Why building the technical foundation for AI solutions interests you
- What kind of role you are looking for next
We are more interested in what you can build and how you think than in a perfectly formatted application.
One hour is enough.
Give us an hour on one of your processes. The next day you see a working prototype of it — your workflow, your screens, your logo.
